Speeding on A617

11th of September, 2024

Dear Parishioners

Glapwell Parish Council are writing to you to appeal for your assistance and to ask if you would like to get involved to help us launch a COMMUNITY SPEED WATCH TEAM.  This is something which we are working hard to set up, to tackle speeding, especially on the A617.  The Parish Council are trying its hardest to reduce the speeding of vehicles and the COMMUNITY SPEED WATCH is another element that can help reduce this issue.  This forms part of our efforts to enhance road safety and address growing concerns about speeding especially on the A617.

This initiative will be a collaborative effort between residents, Glapwell Parish Council, Ault Hucknall Parish Council, and local law enforcement, aiming to monitor and report speeding vehicles.

Volunteers will be equipped with high-visibility vests, handheld speed detection devices and a commitment to making our roads safer.  All volunteers will operate under guidelines provided by the police, ensuring their actions are both legal and effective.

If you would like to become a volunteer, please let the Clerk of the Parish Council know.  By becoming a volunteer, you would join a dedicated local team.  All volunteers would help to make a difference, helping to stop speeding on the A617 – a constant ongoing issue that continues to keep cropping up and which everyone notices.

Once the COMMUNITY SPEED WATCH TEAM is set up it will work within the community morning, noon or early evening, to help tackle speed and to come up with other ideas to do this.

If you have any views to put this forward, or would like to become a volunteer and a member of the COMMUNITY SPEED WATCH TEAM, please come along to our next Parish Council meeting, or alternatively email the Parish Clerk.  (Please note our next Paish Council meeting is on the 19th September 2024)
