\\\\ BUSINESS CRIME WEEK ////

TOOL THEFTS FROM VANS

This week is the National Business Crime Week.

The police with support from partner agencies will be putting posts out about crime prevention advice for businesses during the week.

Below are some helpful tips to prevent you being a victim of tool thefts from your vehicle.

To reduce the theft of tools from vehicles, here are five ways to help:

• Secure Locking Systems: Install high-quality locks or deadbolts on vans and toolboxes to make unauthorised access more difficult.

• Vehicle Alarms & Security Cameras: Equip vehicles with audible alarms and motion-activated cameras to deter thieves and capture evidence.

• Tool Marking & Tracking: Mark tools with identifiable labels or use GPS tracking devices, making stolen tools harder to sell and easier to recover. Taking note of serial numbers also helps with returning tools if found at a later date.

• Smart Parking: Park vehicles in well-lit, secure areas, ideally near CCTV cameras.

• Remove Tools Overnight: When possible, remove tools from vehicles at the end of the workday to eliminate the opportunity for theft.
